If a car hits another car or a wall etc it exerts a force on that other
object BUT the other object exerts the same size force on the car.
These forces and be very large and dangerous.

But if the time to stop t is larger the force on the car F will be smaller.
Crumple zones increase t in a collision thus making the forces on the car
smaller.
