Inflammation of the liver
CAUSES:
• Viruses (Hepatitis A, B C viruses)
• Drugs/ Alcohol use
• Body can mistakenly attack healthy cells

Symptoms
• Loss of appetite
• Nausea and vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Dark-colored urine and pale bowel
movements
• Stomach pain
• Jaundice, yellowing of skin and eyes

HEPATITIS A
“a non‐enveloped picornavirus, containing a
single‐stranded RNA packaged in a protein shell”
• Varies from region to region with high prevalence
in developing countries
• Infection usually results from exposure to
contaminated water or food
• Transferred through: person to person/ outbreaks
• Vaccination or previous exposure to HAV gives
long-term immunity
• Does not result in chronic infection

infection, with prevalence of HBV was higher in the sixth
district (14.3%) of Ouagadougou
• HBsAg detection test (Abon Biopharma Guangzhou, Co.,
Ltd. Chine) for 2216 individuals who voluntarily wanted
to get tested/vaccinated
• vaccination rate of 60.5%.
• Vaccination coverage ranged from 44.5 to 73.7% all
twelve districts.
