RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

• In the human being, because it is an oxygen dependent system, it needs a means to

supply itself with this vital element.

• Thus, thanks to the respiratory system, it supplies itself with the indispensable
oxygen gas for its cellular metabolism and, as a result of this process, it eliminates
carbon dioxide, a toxic gas for the cells.
• But breathing is not only the exchange of gases but also has a final goal:
the generation of energy and other products such as carbon dioxide and
water at the cellular level.

• For this purpose, the respiratory system provides the adequate amount of oxygen
and eliminates the adequate amount of carbon dioxide.
• He respiratory system
made up of the lungs and
the respiratory tracts not
only serve for the passage
of gases, but also
intervenes as a defense
mechanism especially in
the reflection of coughing
and sneezing as well as
vocalization
