A whistle-blower is a person who exposes any kind of information or activity
that is deemed illegal, unethical, or not correct within an organization that is
either private or public.
Two Types of Whistle-Blowing
• The first is internal whistleblowing. This means that the whistleblower
reports misconduct to another person within the organization.
• The second type is external whistleblowing. This means that the
whistleblower reports misconduct to a person outside the organization,
such as law enforcement or the media.

Legality of Whistle-Blowing
• In Bangladesh, The Whistleblowers' Protection Act is created in 2011 but yet to receive the
expected response due to lack of publicity.
• G20 countries have made a public pledge to protect whistleblowers from retaliation and
give them safe avenues to report crime and corruption.
• In India, The Whistle Blowers Protection Act, 2011 has received the Presidential assent on
May 9, 2014
• The Whistle-blower protection act was made into federal law in the United States in 1989.
