Introduction to VMC

 VMC is type of CNC machine typically enclosed

and most used for cutting metal, they are precise and
very expensive

 Controlled by G and M codes

 Each number or code is assigned to a particular

operation
Vertical milling machine
INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE
 Check hoses for leakage
 Confirm proper alignment of tool with spindle
 Clean the tip coolant nozzles
 Check the quality of coolant.
 Clean filter mesh in Coolant Tank / Chip conveyor.
 Check Cooling Fans provided inside the VMC system
for proper functioning.
 Check AC unit provided for electrical cabinet for
proper functioning.
Advantages of VMC

 Easier to program

 Easy storage of existing programs

 Easy to change a program

 Avoids human errors

 VMC machines are safe to operate

 Complex geometry is produced as cheaply as

simple one
Disadvatges

1. Coslty setup

2. Skilled operators required

3. Computer and programming knowledge required

4. Maintenance is difficult
