    57 pens were sold each second all inclusive by BIC.


    Goal :

    • Comparing the environmental impact of using a BIC


    Cristal Gel pen and STEADLER Ballpoint pen for 6
    months
    STUDY ANALYSIS
     Scope:
     The stages of life cycles
    considered:
     Production/ Extraction phase
     Disposal phase

     Functional Unit:
     Using pens for 6 months.

     Limitations:
     2nd 0rder LCA
    STUDY ANALYSIS
     Reference Flow:
     Utilizing 3 GEL pens in a half year.
     Utilizing 3 Ballpoint pens in a half year.

    According to the survey results:


    • Average of losing a Gel pen is nearly 30%.
    • 5% of users doesn’t like to use the pen after losing the
    cap. (Ink will get dry – can’t use again)
