Death and Dying Customs

When a Muslims die, according to Islamic tradition, the


dead must be buried as soon as possible before 24 hours. A
Muslim is always buried, never cremated. Before being buried
the body is bathed, and when buried the face must be directed to
the Qiblah. According to Buddhist beliefs, in death the
consciousness departs from one life and begins the journey into
another new life. For Buddhists, death is a process in which the
consciousness gradually separates from the body. Buddhists
considers that the body is not important after death. A deceased
person can be cremated or buried, depending on the wishes of
the family. According to Judaism religion, someone should stay
with the dying person so that the soul does not feel alone. The
body should also not be left alone after death. The body must be
prepared for burial. The body is prepared by members Chevra
kaddisha or burial society, and the body is covered with a sheet.
