Cyprus
 Reuse of Treated Effluents

In Cyprus the treated effluent from the Urban Waste Water Treatment Plants is used for
irrigation and recharge of aquifers

Aquifers are used as storage reservoirs mainly in winter. The water from the aquifers is
extracted and used for irrigation

Irrigation is done under the Code of Good Agricultural Practice.

During some winter months some quantities are discharged into the sea, as a
temporary solution which will end after the implementation of the reuse projects.
