World War 2 Memorial

On April 29, 2004, this memorial was opened.

It consisted of 56 pillars surrounding a fountain.

This landmark has


been visited by millions
of people every year
since the opening due
to the love for others
as well as the fountain
show.
The memorial is located near the national mall in
Washington, D.C.

The dedication of this


memorial goes to the
AMericans who served in
the armed forces as well
as the civilians during
World War 2.
Each pillar has one of the 48 states of 1945
inscribed on it. The remaining 8 have
familiar areas of the United
States on them
THE FREEDOM WALL

On the west side of the memorial, there is a wall filled with stars
which are dedicated to the Americans who died in the war.

The wall contains 4,048


stars with each one
representing 100
American deaths in the
war. Behind the wall lies
the Lincoln memorial.
