Chinese Fashion Through Dynasties
1. Qin and Han dynasties
 First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty established social systems including one for
uniforms to distinguish people’s rank and social positions.
2. Song, Yuan, Ming Dynasties
 During Song dynasty, the clothes were simple and elegant.
 During Yuan dynasty, the style of clothing was combination of Mongolian and
Han.
 During Ming dynasty, the cloth no limitation to one style and advocating natural
beauty.
3. Qing dynasty
 The clothes became elegant, poised and glorious.
4. 1930s till Modern Era
 During 1930s to 1940s, Qipao has became fashion.
Types of Chinese Clothing

1. Pienfu
 Pienfu is an ancient two piece ceremonial costume of a tunic like top
extending to the knees and a skirt or trousers extending to the ankles.
2. Changpao
 Changpao is a one piecegarment extending from the shoulders all the way
to the heels was a traditional clothing of Manchu ethnic people in the first
place.
3. Shenyi
 Shenyi is a cross between the Pienfu and the Changpao.
Chinese Wedding Dress

1. LongFenggua
 Lengfenggua is endowed with their auspicious meaning.
 Design in longfenggua is dragon and phoenix.
2. Covering Veil
 Covering Veil of Chinese bride is a piece of square shaped red color silk
which is usually embroidered with designed peony or phoenix.
3. Chinese Phoenix Coronets
 Phoenix coronets have been an important part of Chinese wedding attire
since Ming dynasty
