INTRODUCTION
 Nagaland is a vibrant hill state Located in the extreme North East of India.

 It offers a rich and incomparable traditional and cultural heritage.

 Nagaland has only been open to foreign visitors for the last fifteen years
and so it is still largely 'undiscovered' and a true hotspot for adventure
lovers.

 It is home to 16 major tribes with different languages and dialects.

 It is ideal for eco and rural tourism and promotes tribal festivals, mountain
treks, home-stays and offers rare opportunities to experience life in its
traditional tribal villages

 Nagaland is a state in the north-east of India.
 It borders the state of Assam to the west, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to
the north, Myanmar to the east, and Manipur to the south.
 The state capital is Kohima, and the largest city is Dimapur.
 It has an area of 16,579 square kilometres (6,401 sq mi) with a population of
1,980,602 per the 2011 Census of India, making it one of the smallest states of
India.
 The state is inhabited by 16 tribes — Angami, Ao,Chakhesang,Chang,
Khiamniungan,Konyak,Lotha,Phom,Pochury,Rengma,Sangtam,Sumi,
Yimchunger, and Zeme-Liangmai (Zeliang),Dimasa Kachari,Kuki.
 Each tribe is unique in character with its own distinct customs, language and
dress.
 Nagaland became the 16th state of india on 1 December 1963.
 The state is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna.

 The capital city of Nagaland,Kohima is undoubtedly the most charming place
to visit in Nagaland.
 It is one of the most charismatic destinations to see in the state.
 The blend of the ancient and the modern has painted this town in an
interesting colour and has become an incredible landmark for the state.
 The town also reminds one of the scenarios back in the time of Second World
War.
 The town is the perfect combination of culture and history for tourists.
 Kohima offers an insight into the life of Angami tribe who predominated this
region.
 The Japfu peak(3048m) and the Pulebadze Peak have always been the major
attractions for tourist.
 Kohima War Cemetary,Naga Bazaar,Kohima Zoo,Kohima State Museum and
Deputy Comissioner’s Bungalow are other major attractions.

 Reckoned to be the entry point of the state,Dimapur officially welcomes you
to Nagaland.
 It is a well connected town that boasts excellent roads condition and scenic

 The 13th century Kachari Ruins is amongst the most attractive places in
Dimapur.

 Nichuguard village,Kuki Dolong village,Chumukedima,Sethekima village and
Medziphema are some of the places known for their spectacular landscape
beauty.
DIMAPUR,NAGALAND
MOKUKCHUNG
 The most beautiful and a lively district in Nagaland, Mokukchung is the home
of the Ao tribe. Known for its hospitality, rich traditions and festivals.
 Mokukchung is gradually becoming a hotspot for tourism in Nagaland.
 It is often said that one of its destinations named Longkhum is a paradise for
nature enthusiasts.
 Longkhum is also known for its ethnic handloom and handicraft and a sect
called Limapur that practice animist religion
 Ungma is yet another destination of interest in Mokukchung district that is
believed to be the first place founded by Ao tribe when they entered
Nagaland from Chungliyimti.
 This village is known for the celebration of festivals of Ao Nagas like Moatsu
festival (celebrated in the month of May).
 Other than these places, visitors would also like to check out Mokukchung
District Museum, Changtongya and Mokukchung Park.

HOW TO REACH NAGALAND

RAILWAYS

 Dimapur railway station on the Lumding-Dibrugarh section in the only


railway station in Nagaland, approachable only with Assam.

 To reach Assam, trains are available from anywhere in India.

 One can also take an overnight bus from Assam to reach Nagaland
instead of taking another train.
AIRWAYS
 If planning to visit by airways on a Nagaland holiday then there's only one
airport i.e. Dimapur Airport.

 It is the only airport in Nagaland with regular Air India Regional, IndiGo, and Air
India flights operating from Dibrugarh, Delhi, and Kolkata.

 For international flights, one need to reach Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi


International Airport in Guwahati or Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International
Airport in Kolkata.

 From Guwahati, and Kolkata, one can easily get overnight buses to reach
Nagaland.
ROADWAYS

 Nagaland has a good network of National and State highways that connects
all its cities to all the major hubs of India.

 The best way to approach Nagaland by roadways will be taking an overnight


bus from Guwahati, easily available from railway station, airport, and ISBT.
