Church was organized
in May 1891 with over
100 families .

It was the
secondGreek chatholic
church established in
America and the first in
western Pennsylvania
Holy Name Church
• Holy name church was first
organized in 1890 with the first
services conducted over a
store on second street. In July
1899 the cornerstone for for the
present day church building
was laid at the corner of
Kennedy avenue and first
street.
Trinity Church was erected on south First street. It
was construction on the Church was completed in
1905. Rev Nicholas Hodobay was the Trinity church
congregations pastor . They had many battles and
had to go to court and the pastor was over ruled
and had to resigned.
The African Methodist
Episcopal Church knew for
Payne Chapel.

In 1985 a group of men purchased


property located on the concern of
Grant and Aurlies Street from a
school District. St.Joseph’s Church
of Duquesne was formed after the
construction of the building in 1898.
In 1888 this was the first church organized in
Duquesne . There were about only 33 people
who join. The building was located on the
corner of Viola and Second Street . The was
build at the cost 23,000 to built It and
dedicated in May 1894. The church was
relocated at Route 837 and Fairmont Street, the The First Presbyterian Church
old church was torn down to make way for
residental development.
