Greetings
Greetings are nice things to say
when people meet each other.
There are two types:

Formal Informal

Dear Hi
Hello Friend
Good Morning Morning
What´s up?
Important tips for the
correct writing of letters
The most used way
to start a letter or
email is “Dear”.

• Dear Karol:
• Dear Ms. John:
• Dear Mr. and Dr. Smith:
• Dear Professor Rojas:
When you don't know the reader
well or if the letter or the
relationship is formal, use a title
and a last name (Dear Ms. Brown).
Otherwise, use the first name (Dear
Aguilar).
If you are writing to two people,
use both names in your
salutation, like this:

 Dear Mr. Alvarado and Ms. Castro:


 Dear Axel and Andrea,
When you do not know the gender of a person you
write the full name:

 Dear Ana Castro:


 Dear M.J. Salas:
When you don't know a person's name or gender, avoid "To
whom it may concern." use the job title or a greeting:

 Dear Sir or Madam:

When only used the name , be sure to start
with a positive sentence.

Informal
 Hello, David. I hope you had a great vacation.
 Good morning, Wanda. I am following up on this morning's meeting.
Farewells

Farewell is an expression,
like "goodbye,"
