FACEBOOK
Facebook, Inc. is an American online social media and social
networking service company.
Unregistered users can only watch videos on the site, while registered users are
permitted to upload an unlimited number of videos and add comments to videos.
YouTube earns advertising revenue from Google AdSense, a program which targets
ads according to site content and audience.
The vast majority of its videos are free to view, but there are exceptions, including
subscription-based premium channels.
As of August 2018, the website is ranked as the second-most popular site in the
world, according to Alexa Internet.
FEATURES OF YOUTUBE
Video technology - YouTube primarily uses the VP9 and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video
formats, and the Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP protocol.
Uploading - YouTube accepts videos that are uploaded in most container formats,
including AVI, MP4, MPEG-PS, QuickTime File Format and FLV.
Quality and formats - YouTube originally offered videos at only one quality level,
320×240 pixels. In December 2008, 720p HD support was added. In November 2009,
1080p HD support was added. In July 2010, 4K format was added (4096×3072 pixels). In
June 2015, 8K resolution was added (7680×4320 pixels).
Live streaming - In May 2013, creation of live streams was opened to verified users with
at least 1,000 subscribers; and in December the limit was removed. In February 2017,
live streaming was introduced to the official YouTube mobile app.
LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a business and employment-oriented
service that operates via websites and mobile apps.
Founded on December 28, 2002, and launched on May
5, 2003
It is mainly used for professional networking, including
employers posting jobs and job seekers posting their
CVs.
As of October 2018, LinkedIn had 590 million
registered members in 200 countries, of which more
than 250 million are active.
LinkedIn allows members (both workers and employers) to create profiles and
"connections" to each other in an online social network which may represent real-
world professional relationships.
Members can invite anyone (whether an existing member or not) to become a
connection.
The "gated-access approach" (where contact with any professional requires either
an existing relationship or an introduction through a contact of theirs) is intended to
build trust among the service's members.
Since December 2016 it has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft.
The site has an Alexa Internet ranking as the 28th most popular website (December
2018).
WhatsApp
WhatsApp Messenger is a freeware and cross-platform
messaging and Voice over IP (VoIP) service owned by
Facebook. The application allows the sending of text
messages and voice calls, as well as video calls, images and
other media, documents, and user location.
The app allows users to upload photos and videos to the service, which
can be edited with various filters, and organized with tags and location
information.
The service also added messaging features, the ability to include multiple
images or videos in a single post, as well as "Stories"—similar to its main
competitor Snapchat.
