1. Establish your Instructional Goals.
2. Select the subject matter to be taught to achieve
each goal.
3. Organize Subject matter for instruction.
4. Evaluate athletes preseason skills and knowledge.
5. Plan Practice.
ESTABLISHING SEASONAL GOALS

INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS
• Technique • Mastery of individual Skills necessary to
participate in games.
• Tactical • Knowledge of offensive and defensive patterns of
team play.
• Legal • Comprehensive Knowledge of the rules and the
ability to quickly apply this knowledge during
competition.
• Physical • Knowledge and practice of good nutrition and
health, endurance necessary to play hard
throughout practice and competition.
• Mental • The ability to psychologically prepare for
competition and to evaluate themselves based
on performance.
• Moral • The ability to enhance the self-worth of
teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials.
EVALUATION
• Evaluation is the way to assess the performance of
players.
• It is the way to select those players you wish to keep.
• It is also useful if you are responsible for organizing
team or individual competitions and you want to match
players or teams by their skills and knowledge to
achieve safe and equitable competitions
