LUKE 19:1 to 10

Jesus entered Jericho

and was passing through.
A man was there by the
name of Zacchaeus; he
was a chief tax collector
and was wealthy.
LUKE 19:1 to 10

He wanted to see
who Jesus was,
but because he was
short he could not
see over the crowd.
LUKE 19:1 to 10

So he ran ahead and

climbed a sycamore-
fig tree to see him,
since Jesus was
coming that way.
LUKE 19:1 to 10

When Jesus reached the

spot, He looked up and
said to him, “Zacchaeus,
come down immediately.
I must stay at your
house today.”
LUKE 19:1 to 10

So he came down at once

and welcomed Him
gladly. All the people saw
this and began to mutter,
“He has gone to be the
guest of a sinner.”
LUKE 19:1 to 10
But Zacchaeus stood up and
said to the Lord, “Look, Lord!
Here and now I give half of
my possessions to the poor,
and if I have cheated anybody
out of anything, I will pay
back four times the amount.”
LUKE 19:1 to 10

Jesus said to him, “Today

salvation has come to this
house, because this man,
too, is a son of Abraham.
For the Son of Man came to
seek and to save the lost.”
MEMORY VERSE:
LUKE 19:10
“For the Son of
Man came to
seek and to save
the lost.”
WHY DO PEOPLE FEAR
AND AVOID CHANGE?
* IT IS BASIC
TO OUR SINFUL
NATURE TO
AVOID AN ENCOUNTER
WITH GOD
ROMANS 3:23

“All have sinned

and fall short of
the glory of God.”
* THEY DON’T
WANT TO GET OUT
OF THEIR
COMFORT ZONE
LUKE 14:26
“If anyone comes to Me and
does not hate father and
mother, wife and children,
brothers and sisters—
yes, even their own life—
such a person cannot be
My disciple.”
* THEY ARE
UNCERTAIN OF
WHAT’S GOING TO
HAPPEN IF THEY
FOLLOW JESUS
* SOME ARE
NOT INTERESTED
AND DON’T SEE
IT AS A NEED
They would
simply
ignore the
idea of
change and
remain
passive.
ECCLESIASTES 11:4

“Whoever watches the

wind will not plant;
whoever looks at the
clouds will not reap.”
WHAT MADE ZACCHAEUS
DARED TO CHANGE HIS LIFE
I. HE WAS LOOKING
FOR THE RIGHT PATH
LUKE 19:2

“A man was there by

the name of Zacchaeus;
he was a chief tax
collector and was
wealthy.”
TWO IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE:

1. SATISFATION
(Kasiyahan)
ECCLESIASTES 3:13

“That each of them may

eat and drink, and
find satisfaction in all
their toil—this is the
gift of God.”
Satisfaction
is a gift
from God,
and it is
impossible
to have it
without Him.
There is no real
satisfaction
without God.
JOHN 15:5b

“…apart from
Me you can do
nothing.”
“I wish everyone could
get rich and famous and
everything they ever
dreamed of so they can
see that’s not the
answer.”
- Jim Carrey
TWO IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE:

2. SIGNIFICANCE
(Kabuluhan)

“The qualit y of
being important .”
Your significance is not based on
the condition of your life, but the
contribution of your life.
EPHESIANS 2:10
“For we are God’s
handiwork, created in
Christ Jesus to do good
works, which God
prepared in advance
for us to do.”
II. HE WANTED TO CHANGE
HIS CISCUMSTANCES
SOME WISE OBSERVATIONS:
* PEOPLE WHO
REALLY WANT REAL
CHANGE IN LIFE
WILL NOT DELAY
TO COME TO JESUS
If you want to change your
circumstances, seize the
opportunity and make no delays.
SOME WISE OBSERVATIONS:

* THEY ARE WILLING

TO PAY THE PRICE
NO MATTER WHAT
IT COST THEM
LUKE 19:3,4
“He wanted to see who Jesus
was, but because he was
short he could not see over
the crowd. So he ran ahead
and climbed a sycamore-fig
tree to see Him, since Jesus
was coming that way.”
It cost the Son of God
His life to save us.
What can we not give to
respond to His great
love?
SOME WISE OBSERVATIONS:

* TO PURSUE JESUS
NO MATTER
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
GOD WILL NOT
DESPISE US
WHEN WE
REALLY SEEK
FOR HIM.
LUKE 19:5,6
“When Jesus reached the
spot, He looked up and said
to him, ‘Zacchaeus, come
down immediately. I must
stay at your house today.’
So he came down at once
and welcomed Him gladly.”
God is more than eager to come to us,
than our eagerness to come to Him.
III. HE RESPONDED
TO THE
CHALLENGE
TO CHANGE
HIS LIFE
LUKE 19:8
“But Zacchaeus stood up and
said to the Lord, ‘Look, Lord!
Here and now I give half of my
possessions to the poor, and if I
have cheated anybody out of
anything, I will pay back four
times the amount.’”
LUKE 19:9,10

“Jesus said to him, ‘Today

salvation has come to this
house, because this man,
too, is a son of Abraham.
For the Son of Man came to
seek and to save the lost.’”
ACTS 16:31

“Believe in the Lord

Jesus, you will be
saved and your
whole house.”
It was a daring act, an act of faith
to risk everything for something
that God has promised.
