2270 Coanda
screen overflow
issues:
• Current flowrate around 400 l/s
• Currently bypassing 30% of water
straight to vertical dam. (circled in
RED) Want to avoid doing this.
• Although one screen is currently
blocked the water still cannot pass
through the top channel quick enough
and overflows out the top on both
units.
• Water missing catchment and running
down drive creating unsightly
rehandle.

Issue:
2270 Coanda screens
are not handling the
flowrate.
Video showing overflow
from front Coanda
screen and overflow
amount of water
bypassing directly into
the vertical dam.

This is not ideal.

Video
Although screen is blocked it is not creating
an overflow. (ie not the route cause)

All videos taken on the same day

There is nothing trapped inside the boxes

blocking. Visually have looked.

Should the pipe

be sealed to the
lid with a flange
join?

Should the lid be

sealed to the
catch box to
effectively
pressurize the
system?

Is the long aperture

in the box wide
enough to allow
water to flow over
the screen?

Should there be a
baffle of sorts inside
the box the spread
the flow?

Actions
Require Coanda screen to not overflow and to work as
designed.
• Review design versus as-built for any obvious flaws.
• Review aperture size in catch box.
• Could it have been assembled incorrectly?
• Review closing the system by joining the intake pipe to lid and lid to box.
• Should there be a baffle inside the box to spread the water evenly?
