Problem 1:
Hanna bought a dozen boxes, each
with 24 black markers inside, for P45
each box. She repacked five of these
boxes into packages of six black
markers each, and sold them for P25
per package. She sold the rest of the
black markers separately at the rate
of three pens for P10.
1. How much was her capital?
2. How many boxes were formed
when she repacked fives boxes
with 24 markers into boxes of six
black markers? How much money
would she earn in selling all
repackaged boxes?
3. How much money did she earn
in selling the remaining pens for
P10?
4. What was Hanna’s total
earnings?
5. How much profit did she make?
(Note: Profit is equal to money
earned minus money spent.)
Problem 2:
Steven is reading a book that
has 260 pages. He read 35
pages on Monday night, and
40 pages on Tuesday night.
How many pages does he
have left to read?
Problem 3:
Jacob can spend two hours at
the museum. He spends 45
minutes looking at paintings and
then 50 minutes looking at
pottery. How much time does he
have left?
Problem 4:
Mang Manny is a baker. Every hour, he
bakes 200 pieces of pandesal, 150
pieces of choco crinkles and 100 pieces
of soft cookies. If his shop is open from
6 am to 6 pm, how many pastries did
Mang Manny bake all in all?
Problem 5:
Arman bought 36 backpacks for
7200 pesos. He sold twenty bags
at a department store for 250
pesos each, while the rest were
sold in his shop for 200 pesos.
How much is his total earnings?
