Pawn Rook Knight Bishop Queen King

Here is the Chess board with all the pieces

placed at their home squares
The King can move only one square in any direction
The Rook can move horizontally or vertically any number of squares in any
direction
The Bishop can move diagonally any number of squares in any direction
The Knight can move in any direction but in a different way
The Queen is the most POWERFULL, she can move any number of squares
both diagonally and horizontally or vertically in any direction
A Pawn moves forward either 1 or 2 squares from it’s home square, once the
Pawn leaves it’s home it can then move only one square
So, what is the objective of the game?

“Win” of course
To win in a Chess game we have to capture the
pieces of our opponent and to Checkmate the
opponent’s King
But how do we capture the pieces of our
opponent and how do we Checkmate?
In this position the White Knight can capture the Black Queen
Checkmate happens when you attack the King of your opponent and the King
can not move to a legal square and thus the game is over
White has just tried to Checkmate the Black King but without any support, so
its not a Checkmate, the Black King will simply capture the White Queen
Here the White Queen has attacked the Black Queen with the support of it’s
Bishop and the Black King has nowhere to go, hence it’s a Checkmate
“With lot of best wishes ”
