MEASLES
 What is Measles?
-Measles, or rubeola, is a viral infection of
the respiratory system. Measles is a very
contagious disease that can spread through
contact with infected mucus and saliva. An
infected person can release the infection
into the air when they cough or sneeze.
 What causes Measles?
-Measles is caused by a virus. It is spread
when an infected person coughs, sneezes,
or shares food or drinks. The measles virus
can travel through the air. This means that
you can get measles if you are near
someone who has the virus even if that
person doesn't cough or sneeze directly on
you.
Symptoms
 bad cold-a high fever
 runny nose and sneezing
 Sore throat, and a hacking cough
 Fatigability
 Diarrhea
 Sore eyes
 Red spots
 Rashes all over the body
RUBELLA
 Also known as German measles or three-
day measles
 A rash may start around two weeks after
exposure and last for three days. It usually
starts on the face and spreads to the rest
of the body
TETANUS
 What is Tetanus?
-Tetanus, also known as lockjaw, is
an infection characterized by muscle
spasms
-Tetanus is caused by an infection with
the bacterium Clostridium tetani which is
commonly found in soil, dust and manure
Symptoms
 Muscle spasm
 Headache
 Sweating
 Fever
 Trouble swallowing
 High-blood pressure
 Tachycardia
DIPHTHERIA
 What is Diphtheria?
-Diphtheria is a serious bacterial infection
that affects the mucous membranes of the
throat and nose
-A type of bacteria called Corynebacterium
diphtheria causes diphtheria. The condition
is typically spread through person-to-
person contact or through contact with
objects that have the bacteria on them,
such as a cup or used tissue.
DIPHTHERIA
 You may also get diphtheria if you’re
around an infected person when they
sneeze, cough, or blow their nose.
 Even if an infected person doesn’t show
any signs or symptoms of diphtheria,
they’re still able to transmit the bacterial
infection for up to six weeks after the
initial infection.
Symptoms
 a fever
 chills
 swollen glands in the neck
 a loud, barking cough
 a sore throat
 bluish skin
 drooling
 a general feeling of uneasiness or
discomfort
