ABSTRAK
Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is an uncommon, distinctive cutaneous
ulceration which is usually idiopathic, but may be associated with many
systemic disorders. The etipathogenesis of PG is still not well understood.
Clinically it is classified into ulcerative, pustular, bullous and vegetative
types. The diagnosis mainly depends on the recognition of evolving clinical
features. The treatment mainly consists of corticosteroids and
immunosuppressive agents.
INTRODUCTION
Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare, chronic neutrophilic dermatosis of
unknown etiology. Characterized by extremely painful nodules and pustules,
which evolve into ulcers with a raised, tender and undermined border. The
cutaneous lesions might be the only manifestation of the disease, but in most
cases of cases, PG is associated to a systemic disease.
METHOD
Retrospectively. 23 patients who were admitted and treated for PG were identified from
Western Hospital Health Information Service (medical records over a 10-year period from
July 2003 to September 2013). Were reviewed data extracted:
Age, admission for PG, sex, clinical variant of PG, site of ulcer, associate systemic diseases,
investigation results, treatment, deaths, and recurrence during follow-up.
