CASE FILE ():

Back story:
Once again the town of Hawkins, Indiana is in need of help!
Dustin, Lucas, Will, and Mike will do anything to save their town!
The kids are looking for a way to close the gate/portal, so that no
more Dema dogs can come through! The Dema dogs are scary
dog looking monsters that follow the directions of the Mind Flayer
whom is located in Upside Down. The Upside Down is the mirror
image of our world but it’s cold, dark, damp, and contains
dangerous monsters! If a person spends too much time there it
can be harmful to their health, in more ways than one! The kids
will have to figure out how to close the gate without the help of
Eleven and her powers. By solving this mystery the kids can then
use the Equalizer to close the portal to the Upside Down!
• Everyone loves going down to Hawkins’ Quarry during the day! You can fish, swim, or eat! It can also be a
dangerous place at night, with its high rock walls and its deep waters. Some people have spread rumors of
even seeing dog like monsters there. These sightings are usually only at night. Most people in Hawkins
believe that these sightings are just hoaxes, like Big Foot or the Loch Ness Monster!
• The boys are driving past Hawkins Laboratory, and then past Benny’s Burgers on their bikes as they come up
to the quarry. Hawkins Quarry Snack Shop had been open only an hour when Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Mike
stopped in and noticed a new poster announcing a price increase. "I put the sign up this morning at 8:00
a.m.," Mr. Callahan told them, "I had to raise my prices ten percent because of so many new expenses. Like
now, I need a new window for my back room. Somebody broke it, trying to get into my store last night."
"Have you called the police?" Dustin asked.
"No. I had a weird mechanical device in the backroom. It looks like something you would find in a UFO
movie. I found it a few weeks ago, when investigating the decaying pumpkin patches, which was close to
Hawkins’ Laboratory. I didn’t want to report it missing, I could get in trouble with Chief Hopper as stolen
property." Mr. Callahan led the kids to a small storeroom in the back. "I use this space as an office. Sat here
and made my price change poster last night. As soon as I was done, I left it on that old desk beside the UFO
device. When I went out, I locked the door to the main part of my store. So whoever got in was stuck in this
little storeroom. I was a little amazed that the perpetrator(s) some how fit the machine through the
window. The window is only 28 inches wide by 40 inches tall.“
• Mike asked Mr. Callahan, “Is there any chance that the perpetrator(s) could have cut their arm trying to get
the machine through the window?” “I believe that there is a very good chance that could have happened!”,
said Mr. Callahan.
• When the Kids left they wandered down to the lower quarry wall, where Keith, Billy, Carol, and Tommy were fishing. "Did
you hear that somebody broke a window at the Shack?" Will asked.
"Nope," Keith said. "We've been here since dawn. Haven't talked to anybody." Billy gestured to the bucket.
• "We've caught some big ones.” "But now I'm starving. I've got a dollar left from my allowance. If Mr. Callahan is there
now, I'm going up to the Shack to get a Big Quarry Bun.“
"Better get another dime from somewhere," Tommy told him. "A dollar's not enough any more. As for me, I'm going home
to make a couple sandwiches.” “You coming Carol?” As Carol reels in her rod, she grabs her arm in pain, “ What do you
think Tommy? I haven’t eaten any food for a while like you!”
• Mike asked his friends, “ Who do you think took the UFO machine?” Dustin replies, “We’ll call it the equalizer, not the
UFO machine!” Will shares, “Do you think that the same person(s) that broke in also took the machine, or do you think it
could have been someone else?” Dustin shares, “All that I know is, we need the Equalizer to shut the portal to the Upside
Down!”
• "You all stay right here," Lucas said. "I know which of you broke into the Quarry Snack Shack. You'd better think of a way to
pay for it, because I'm telling Mr. Callahan.“
