Conceptualizing GLOBAL
SOUTH
 It is associated with the development gaps observed among
states.
 A social and political move against global inequalities which often
lead to categorizing states as developed and developing.
 Use the term “global South” to highlight the imbalance distribution
of global power as there are states who take most of the
advantages while others are left behind.
 The term “Third World” was used by those who criticize cold war-
era politics.
 Global South can be found between the objective realities of
global inequality and the subjective responses to these
(Claudio,2014).
