4. Member design
5. Detailing, drawing and preparation of schedules
STRUCTURAL PLANNING

• Managing the effects and demands of development or redevelopment of areas.

• Visions, objectives, goals
• Urban and Spatial planning
ACTION FORCES AND COMPUTATION
OF LOADS

• Dead loads – weight of the structure

• Live loads – also called imposed loads, are
loads the change over time. Examples include
people walking around a building, movable
furniture, moving vehicles.
ACTION FORCES AND COMPUTATION
OF LOADS

• Wind loads – loads that acts on the exterior of

the structure.
• Earthquake loads – takes place due to the
inertia force produced in the building because
of seismic excitations. The higher mass, the
higher the earthquake loading.
METHODS ANALYSIS

• is the determination of the effects of loads on

physical structures and their components.
Structures subject to this type of analysis
include all that must withstand loads, such as
buildings, bridges, vehicles, furniture, attire, soil
strata, prostheses and biological tissue.
MEMBER DESIGN

• Simple stress
• Flexural stress
MEMBER DESIGN
DETAILING, DRAWING AND
PREPARATION OF SCHEDULES

• Materials used must comply with detailing standards. Most common in the
Philippines the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP) in
conjunction with RA 544
