Soil Moisture Active Passive
SMAP is a remote sensing observatory that carries two
instruments that will map soil moisture and determine the
freeze or thaw state of the same area being mapped.
Feature:- shared by radar and radiometer.
3
Why Soil Moisture matter?
● Monitor Drought
● Predict Floods
● Weather Forecasting
4
Soil Moisture Sensor
in the dielectric.
5
Soil moisture sensor response :-
0%
100%
6
Soil Moisture Sensor Calibration:-
Where a is the weight of the empty pot (gram), b is the weight of pot and wet soil
(gram), c is weight of pot and dry soil (after evaporated in the oven for 24 hours)
(gram)
7
Relation between sensor output and soil
moisture content
8
Soil Moisture observations:
1. connection of sensor and Arduino to get soil moisture data
2. Connection ESP32 with the Arduino and coded for ESP32
3. Upload data on thingspeak
9
Extract Soil Moisture Information from SMAP Obs.
10
SMAP image data
