“ANALYTICAL STUDY OF SIGNIFICANT EDUCATIONAL BUILDINGS IN

RAHIM YAR KHAN 2000-2018”

Rahim Yar Khan is the 10th largest city of Punjab Province by population according to 2017 census.
It is very important city due to its location and by business opportunities. Architecture of Rahim Yar
khan is the amalgamation of traditional elements and modern elements. Architectural
documentation of Rahim Yar khan was neglected in the past. The goal of the study is to study
analyze and documentation of the latest educational buildings in Rahim Yar Khan. This type of
documentation was not conducted in the past. The buildings discussed in this research will be
significant educational buildings of Rahim Yar khan. Because educational buildings give
identification of any particular area’s architectural history.
This research will be conducted by site visits photographs drawings and meetings with architects
to know about the design philosophy and concepts. The buildings will be selected on the following
factors based.
 Their scale
Landmark positions
Accessibility and availability of building drawings
Rahim Yar Khan city is in the Bahawalpur Division of Punjab province in Pakistan. .
District Rahim Yar Khan is one of the largest districts of southern Punjab. The river Indus
separates Rahim Yar Khan from Muzafargarh, Rajanpur, Kashmore & Ghotki districts.
The districts borders with Muzafargarh district on the north, with Jasilmir(India) and
Ghotki district of Sind province on the south, with Bahawalpur district on the east, and
with Rajanpur district on the west. The district Rahim Yar Khan is divided into three
natural borders, i.e. the Riverine area, the desert and the green land. The riverside area of
the land is canal irrigated area lying on the south and is separated by main Minchin Bund.
The approximate height of the irrigated area is 150 to 200 meters above the sea level. The
third part of the area called Cholistan lies in the south of the irrigated tract up to the Indo-
Pak border.
Apart from the natural lines of contrast, the city lies in the heart of Pakistan. The main
transportation lines, both railway and motor way passes through this area and thus makes
it an economically important region that connects the two capitals of major provinces of
Pakistan that is Lahore, Punjab and Karachi, Sind. This geographic location of the city
and economic importance of the region has played a major role in the development of the
lost soul of Indus civilization again in the form of Rahim Yar Khan. District Rahim Yar
Khan based mainly on the agriculture land garlanded by industrial states, is the biggest
contributor in the GDP of Punjab and this warm industry is not the gift of the Pakistan but
was living there before independence (according to the statement of Architect Fayyaz
Udin in 1943 recorded by Sayyed Noor Ali Zamin Hussaini in his article about city's
planning).
Rahim Yar Khan is 10th largest populated city of Punjab according to 2017 census. Its population is
above 1.5 million. Rapidly growth in population is due to the fact that Rahim Yar khan is important
industrial district. It is the last district in Punjab towards south. People from Baluchistan & Sind
come to Rahim Yar khan for educational & business purposes. This is very important to understand
and to know about the famous educational buildings of Rahim Yar khan. Its 30% population lives
is urban areas. It gives significant revenue in industrial sector of Punjab.
This study will Contribute to enhance the workability of the students for future research.

The study will cover the architectural analysis of the famous educational buildings of current
period. This study will give the architectural trends being practiced in educational buildings. This
study will give the statistics about the famous educational buildings of Rahim Yar khan. Whats
architectural styles are being practices in educational sector.

•To know about the important educational buildings which were made after 2000 to
date.
•To analyze the architectural styles & building forms of important educational
buildings of Rahim Yar Khan
•To analyze that which architectural style should be adopted in that area.
•To know about the usage of building materials and techniques
•Documentation of educational buildings after 2000.
•How buildings are compatible with in context .
Participatory Observation/Survey: -
Purpose full systematic observational analysis will be conducted through pictorial documentation,
participatory observation, physical visit of the concerned buildings.
Comparative conclusion will be prepared through Analyzing the systematic observation data,
pictorial documentation data, technical data of the building, and plans of the Building.

Questionnaire: - A simple questionnaire concerning symptoms and complaints about different


factors is distributed to a randomly selected sample of Occupants of the Building. This will
include range of response questions, close ended questions, providing limited answers to specific
responses or on a numeric scale.
Interview: This will include Building interviews of architects who designed that educational
buildings . Researcher will able to know the design philosophy.
Tools of collecting Secondary Data: -
Various statistical tools will also be used to analyze the secondary data.
a. Document Review: - Review of the Literature Available.
b. Internet Search: - The information related to outside region (other part of Pakistan
and Globe) will be studied from internet to other published papers.
c. Reference books: - various publications and reference book, journals, published data
from time to time on the topic.
d. Research of journals, periodicals, technical materials,, electronics/internet
search, professionals meetings, seminars and discussions, site visits etc.
e. Sampling like records, reports, operational logs, data entry documents, complaints,
and various types of forms.
