A Little About Me…
• This is my fourth year
teaching
• I’ve always taught
kindergarten
• I live in Fredericksburg, but
I am originally from the
Gainesville area.
• I have a 140 pound Great
Dane named Bentley
• My top two favorite things to
do is spend time with family
and friends, as well as be
around the water
Kindergarten Expectations
Quality CHeetahs

Behavior Management

• DoJo Points
• Goal: about 3-5 points a day
• Less than 3-5 points, conference
with teacher before playing
• Notes will follow in Dojo or in folder
as necessary
Daily Behavior Sheet
• If necessary, your child or the class
may need a daily behavior sheet
• Check each day and initial
• Stays in the folder for 2 weeks
• Teacher will remove it once complete
• The intention is to inform you.

• Class Dojo instantly reinforces positive behavior


& engages students!
• It is a SIMPLE, FREE mobile app for iOS and
Android and can be used from a computer.
• Parents & Teachers can easily message each
other.
• Teachers can share pictures from classroom
similar to FaceBook.

• Your child will be given time for a quick morning

• Students should be able to open their snack

Arrival/Dismissal

•First Bell – 9:10 am


•Tardy Bell – 9:20 am
•Students wait in the lobby until bell
rings
•If there is a change in your child’s regular dismissal,
please send in a written note or call the office before
3:00.
• Please do not take your child out of the bus line!
Curriculum

Language Arts – Balanced Literacy Curriculum - Our goal


is for the students to become independent in reading and
writing.

•Guided Reading Groups & Work Stations – Students will


be grouped by reading levels.

•Writing Workshop & Interactive Writing –Students will


develop as writers at individual levels.

Shared Reading & Read Aloud – Stresses oral language &

 Read daily with your child for 20 minutes.
 Weekly Refrigerator Story & Writing Response
 Practice letter recognition & sound awareness.

 Encourage them to write independently, even if not
