designed to identify, quantify, or characterize a chemical
compound or chemical group.

Purpose
 Determine the composition of sample.
 Determine the interaction of sample with other known
elements.

Sample preparation for macroscopic test-
Small round section is cut from the billet.

The sample surface is carefully prepared.


Etching is carried out in (Hcl+lime) bath for 15-
60 min. at 70oC.
