AIMS & OBJECTIVES

Due to increasing pollution levels in


today’s modernized world, children are
exposed to pollution & extreme climatic
changes, thus falling prey to common
cold.
The Aim & Objective of this work is to
highlight the curative Role of Homeopathy
in treating Rhinitis in Indian children.
INTRODUCTION

Pediatric Rhinitis is an acute infection of


the Upper Respiratory Tract in children.
It is of 2 types - Allergic and Viral.
Allergic Rhinitis is an inflammatory
disorder characterized by sneezing, nasal
itching, blockage & mucoid rhinorrhoea.
Symptoms may be seasonal or perennial.
Viral Rhinitis or Common Cold occurs
due to susceptibility to adenovirus,
rhinovirus, etc.

Rhinitis should be treated early in children
to avoid further complications like Otitis
Media & Sinusitis.
This work emphasizes the curative role of
Homeopathy in the management of Rhinitis
in children.
PURPOSE OF SELECTION
OF THIS TOPIC
Rhinitis in children should be treated as
early as possible to prevent further
complications.
Rhinitis causes associated symptoms like
headache & malaise i.e. bodyache resulting
in absenteeism from school.
This work shows the curative role of
Homeopathy in treating symptoms of
Rhinitis in children.

W.H.O : The World Health Organization
has laid down certain guidelines for
schools to be made in pollution-free
zones. Also tree-plantation drives are
initiated to build a clean environment.
MATERIALS & METHODS:

affiliated to S.B.H.M.C., Aurangabad.

TYPE OF STUDY:
Patients are studied for a period of 1
Year & their Follow-up is taken for 6
months.

CASE DEFINITION:

Paediatric Rhinitis is
an acute infection of the upper respiratory
tract presenting with symptoms like hay-
fever, sneezing, nasal blockage, etc.
Allergic Rhinitis may be seasonal or
perennial. Cold occurs every 1-2 months.
Its presenting symptoms are fever, nasal
congestion & rhinorrhoea.

INCLUSION CRITERIA:
Children between 6 months to 10 years are
included presenting with the above symptoms.
EXCLUSION CRITERIA:
L.R.T.I. & E.N.T. diseases are to be excluded.
INVESTIGATION/DIAGNOSTIC
TECHNIQUES:
Diagnosis is to be made on H/o exposure to
allergens if any & on presenting symptoms.
Routine Blood Tests are done to rule out
Eosinophilia, etc.

CRITERIA FOR ASSESSMENT:
A well-selected homeopathic remedy chosen
on symptom-similarity & individualization leads
to decrease in symptoms like sneezing,
blockage, etc. in a few days thus preventing
end-complications. Also, frequency of attacks
is reduced.
SELECTION & ADMINISTRATION OF DRUGS:
A suitable repertory is selected for
repertorization of the above symptoms. Sugar
pills medicated with the indicated remedy are
given to the patient.
OBSERVATION AND ANALYSIS:
Patient will be observed for:
 Relief from symptoms.

 Relief from relapses.

 Total non-occurrence of the symptoms

for a period of 6 months.


DISCUSSION:
Working of Paediatric Rhinitis will be
done in particular format which will help in
understanding assessment of the patient.

Purpose of selection will be assessed.

Final remedy selection will be done with


the help of Hom. Materia Medica.

Conclusion of work & summary will be


drawn according to the follow-up of the
cases.
