Contribution to the society

 Malcom x had contributed greatly to the civil rights movement of 1960’s.


 He dedicated his life to advocating for black rights
 He was a separatist, which meant that he had opposed integration and
believed in the separation of white and black Americans as the only way
for black people to achieve equality .
Events from Malcom X’s life

 February 1946: at the age of 20, Malcom x is sent tojial in Charlestown,


Massachusetts and assigned prisonor number 22843. he then remains
behind bars until 1952.
 1948:Malcolm's siblings, four of whom have converted to Islam, introduce
him to the words of the Nation of Islam's leader, Elijah Muhammad.The two
men correspond, and Malcolm continues his course of study, eventually
writing to the Massachusetts governor and demanding the right to practice
Islam in prison. He also joins the prison debate team and begins attracting
attention for his oratory.
 1961:Elijah Muhammad, who has moved from Chicago to Phoenix for
health reasons, makes Malcolm national representative of the Nation of
Islam. This creates resentment among Muhammad's inner circle who do not
want Malcolm to be the next leader.
 February 21,1965: Malcolm X is assassinated while speaking at an OAAU
rally in Harlem; three members of the Nation of Islam are later convicted

 Rigoberta Menchu fought for the Indian rights in Gautamala.


 She was also involved in social reform activities through catholic churches.
 She joined the radical 31st of January Popular Front, in which her
contribution chiefly consisted of educating the Indian peasant population
in resistance to massive military oppression.
 She have also performed as the narrator in a powerful film called “When
the Mountains Tremble”, about the struggles and sufferings of the Maya
people.
Events from rigoberta menchu’s life

 In 1982, Rigoberta Menchu narrated a book about her life, titled “Me llamo
Rigoberta Menchú y así me nació la conciencia” (My Name is Rigoberta
menchu and this is how my Conscience was Born).
 The book made her an international icon at the time of the ongoing
conflict in Guatemala.
 Having won numerous humanitarian awards for her efforts, including the
1992 Nobel Peace Prize, Rigoberta Menchu has since joined other like-
mined women to broaden her work and help spread a message of
equality, hope, and justice around the world. While her legacy is not
without controversy, Menchu has fought long and hard to expand human
rights and to ensure a better future for all Guatemalans. And despite
everything she has been though, she continues to push forward with her
work to this day.
