What is Preporsition of Time?

 A preposition of time is a preposition that permits you to discuss or


converse a specific time period such as a date on the calendar, one of
the days of the week, or the actual time a certain thing takes place.
Prepositions of time are the same words as prepositions of place, however
they are used in a different way.

Months: in January / in April


Days of the week: on Monday
Seasons: in spring / in winter
Days + parts of days: on Tuesday
Years: in 1984 / in 2015
afternoon / on Saturday mornings Clock times: at 7.30 a.m. / at 5 o’clock
Centuries: in the 20th century
Dates: on November 22nd Festivals: at Christmas / at Easter
Times of day: in the morning / in the
Special days: on my birthday / on New Exceptions: at night / at the weekend

Longer periods of time: in the past / in
the 1990s / in the holidays
Examples of Prepositions of Time

 I have a meeting at 11am.

 Janice went home at lunch time.

 Do you work on Saturdays?

 We’re going bowling on Saturday night.

 Birds often migrate in spring and autumn.
