compliance or being used outside the scope of its
standard - the Designer (and Installer) shall confirm
that it will meet the safety requirements of BS 7671.

Ch 42. Protection against thermal effects

Reg 422.2.1 - This Reg on escape routes has been


redrafted - Construction Product Regulations (CPR)
Directives certification in respect to their reaction to
fires in NOTE. Making reference to Appendix 2, item 17.

Fire rating requirements have also been included for


cables that are supplying safety circuits.

Ch. 44 Protection against Voltage and EM disturbances

Section 443 - Protection against transient overvoltages to be


provided where:

(a) serious injury/loss of human life


(b) interruption of public services/damage to cultural heritage,
or
(c) interruption of commercial or industrial activity, or
(d) affects a large number of co-located individuals.

For all other cases, Reg 443.5 a risk assessment (CRL) has to be
performed in order to determine if protection against
transient overvoltage is required.

Exception to omit SPDs where in a single dwelling


units, where economically justifiable.

Requirements for the methods of support of wiring
systems - applies throughout the installation and not
just in escape routes. Wiring systems shall be
supported such that they will not be liable to
premature collapse in the event of a fire.

connections for inland navigation vessels

This is an entirely new section and applies to


onshore installations dedicated to the supply of
inland navigation vessels for commercial and
administrative purposes, berthed in ports and
berths.

Most, if not all, of the measures used to reduce the


risks in marinas apply equally to electrical shore
connections for inland navigation vessels.

extended to apply to embedded electric
heating systems for surface heating.
