IRELAND
STAGES
➤ Education in Ireland is
compulsory since 6 years old
until 15 years old .It’s divided
in:
➤ Kindergarten(optional):3-6
years old.
➤ Primary school:6-12 years old
➤ Secondary school:
Junior cycle:12-15 years old.
Senior cycle(not compulsory):
15-18 years old.
TRINITY
COLLEGE
➤ Around 17,000 students study
in Trinity College.
➤ Careers you can study there:
➤ Art,Humanities and social
sciences : Business,Creative
arts, Education and English…
➤ Engineering,Mathematics and
Science: Natural Sciences,
Computer and Statistics,
Physics and Chemistry…
➤ Health Sciences:Medicine,
Dental Sciences…
A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
➤ It´s library is one of the most
important libraries of the
country with more than 3
million books.
➤ It´s built in an old monastery
in was built in 1592.
➤ This statue is from George
Salmon ,he was an old rector
of the university who didn´t
want girls studying in
Trinity.When he died girls
started studying in the college
GOREY
COMMUNITY
➤ It’s located in Gorey County
Wexford.
SCHOOL
➤ It is the biggest school in the
country.
➤ There are over 90 classes
including a large gym.
➤ It organises exchanges with
other countries.
➤ The uniform is compulsory.
➤ It is a public school but you
have to pass different exams
to get into this school.
TIMETABLE AND
ACTIVITIES
➤Students go to school at 8:30 and
they do homework they haven’t
done until 9 o’clock.
➤ The first class starts at 9 ,every
class lasts 1 hour and they finish
school at 3:30 , they have 5
classes per day.
➤ They have 2 breaks every day
one from 11:20 to 11:35 and the
other which is for lunch time from
1 o’clock to 1:35.
➤ In the afternoon there are
activities such as Drama ,Sports
,and academical competitions
between schools.
SUBJECTS
➤ Compulsory subjects: Maths ,English ,Physics and
Chemistry,Social Sciences and Biology.
➤ Optional: Irish ,Music ,ITC ,Art, Economics and other languages
(the optional subjects depends on the school).
THE UNIFORM
➤ Girls:At the top part they wear a
white shirt and a green wooden
jumper ,at the bottom part they
wear a patterned green and red
skirt and black tights.
➤ Boys:At the top part they wear the
same as girls but at the bottom
part, they wear grey trousers
instead.
➤ Girls and boys have to wear black
shoes.
➤ The tie isn´t compulsory every day
but when there is an important
event they have to wear it.

OTHER DIFFERENCES
-They have 2 breaks and one of them is for having lunch while in Spain we only have one.

-Before starting classes they have half an hour for doing homework while in Spain we
don’t have it.

-In most of the schools in Ireland the uniform is compulsory while in Spain it isn’t.

-They usually do more projects and have more practical subjects while here in Spain the
most important thing are the exams

-There schools usually have a lot of clubs such as drama and sports while in spain
specially in our school we only have the chess club.

-They start school at the and of August while here we start in September .
