Problems identification
and cause of the
problem
Near the place where I live there is a school
named Montessori public school and it
always organize swachh bharat abhiyan for
the cleanliness of the area, show the main
problem people where facing in that area
was green grass growing rapidly because of
that a huge amount of snakes where roaming
here and there. So the school members
thought if we can cut the whole area grass
problem would be resolved though it was a
large area covering 665 acres the whole
society was involved in it .
Objectives to be achieved:
• Construct individual , cluster and community toilets.
• Eliminate or reduce open defecation. Open defecation is one of the
main causes of deaths of thousands of children each year.
• Construct latrines and work towards establishing an accountable
mechanism of monitoring latrine use.
• Create public awareness about the drawbacks of open defection and
promotion of latrine use.
• Change people’s mindset towards proper sanitation use, keep cities
and towns clean.
Public awareness:
• The government of India is bringing awareness to the people through
advertisements. In 2017, the national sanitation coverage rose to 65%
from 38.7% on Oct 2, 2014 before the start of the campaign. It was
90% in August 2018. Eleven states, 314 districts and 3.25 lakh villages
were declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) by 15 February 2018.
• The cities and towns which have been declared ODF stood at 22
percent and the urban wards which have achieved 100 percent door-
to-door solid waste collection stood at 50 percent. The number of
Swachhagrahi volunteers working across urban local bodies rose to
20,000, and those working in rural India rose to more than a lakh. The
number of schools with separate toilet facilities for girls rose from 0.4
million (37 percent) to almost one million (91 percent).
Various steps taken to achieve objectives:
• The first step towards any great movement is the awareness about its
motive.
• Regular initiatives by the government for the same.
• People in their societies taking forward the initiative.
• Institution adopting this initiative.
• Becoming a part of NGO’s that work for the same.
