Yeast is a living microscopic organism which converts sugar


or starch into alcohol and carbon dioxide, which is why
beer brewers, wine makers and bread bakers like it.
Baker's yeast is what we use most often for leavening
when cooking.
Definition of bakpao

Is a type of filled bun or bread-like ( made with yeast)


dumpling in various Chinese cuisines. There are many
variations in fillings (meat or vegetarian) and preparations
(usually steamed). In its bun-like aspect it is very similar to
the traditional Chinese mantou.
RECIPE OF BAKPAO
Bakpao ingredients: – To Bakpao Feeling
• 1 cup warm water – 1 small onion, diced
• 1/4 cup sugar – 3 garlic cloves, minced
• 2 cups flour – 1-1/2 cups pork (or beef/pork mix) ground
• 2 tsp. baking powder – 1 tbsp. soy sauce
• 2 tsp. yeast – 2 tsp. hoisin or oyster sauce
• 3 tbsp. oil – Pinch salt
– Pinch sugar
RECIPE
HOW TO MAKE :
1. Dissolve sugar in water completely. Mix flour, yeast and baking powder, then add
water mix and oil. Mix, then knead until no longer sticky. Cover with a damp cloth and
let rise until double in bulk, about 45 minutes.
2. While waiting, make the filling:
• Sauté onion until translucent but not brown, adding the garlic towards the end. Add the meat
and cook through. Add liquids and spices, cook 1 additional minute, and set aside.
3. When dough is risen, form into long loaf and cut into approximately 6 equal pieces.
Roll each piece flat, put filling in center and seal shut.
4. Let stand for 15 minutes, then steam for 20-25 minutes.
