SYSTEM
 INTRODUCTION
Speech Synthesis is the artificial production of human speech. A computer system used for
this purpose is called a Speech Synthesizer and can be implemented in software or
 hardware.
A Text-To-Speech (TTS) system converts normal language text into speech, other systems
render symbolic linguistic representations like phonetic transcriptions into speech.
Synthesized speech can be created by concatenating pieces of recorded speech that are
stored in a database. Systems differ in the size of the stored speech units, a system that
stores PHONES or DIPHONES provides the largest output range, but may lack clarity.
For specific usage domains, the storage of entire words or sentences allows for high-quality
output.
Alternatively, a SYNTHESIZER can incorporate a model of the vocal tract and other
human voice characteristics to create a completely "synthetic" voice output.
The quality of a speech synthesizer is judged by its similarity to the human voice and by its
ability to be understood. An intelligible Text-To-Speech program allows people with visual
impairments or reading disabilities to listen to written works on a home computer. Many
computer operating systems have included speech synthesizers since the early 1980s.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
With the help of Text-To-Speech Converter computer can
read aloud any text document when user is proof-reading and
hearing the words aloud makes it easy to catch common
typing errors.

FRONT END: MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO 2008

The project is developed in visual studio 2008 using C#

language in Windows Vista.

 Operating System : Windows XP, Vista & 7.
 FEATURES OF CONVERTER:

 Change voice characteristics setting to change speed, pitch and

volume.
 Customize hot-keys to read text from any program.
WORKING OF CONVERTER:
 NEED OF SYSTEM:
 Speech Synthesis has long been a vital assistive technology tool and its application in
this area is significant and widespread. It allows environmental barriers to be removed
for people with a wide range of disabilities. The longest application has been in the use
of screen readers for people with visual impairment, but Text-To-Speech Systems are
now commonly used by people with Dyslexia and other reading difficulties as well as
by pre-literate children. They are also frequently employed to aid those with
severe speech impairment usually through a dedicated voice output communication aid. 

 Text-To-Speech Converter uses speech synthesis to convert written news to audio

content, which can be used for mobile applications.
 
 Speech Synthesis techniques are required as well in the entertainment productions such
as games, anime and similar. The development of a Software Application Package based
on Speech Synthesis Software is required to explicitly gear towards customers in the
entertainment industries to enable to generate narration and lines of dialogue according
to user specifications. There is need for a web service that allows users to create phrases
from the voices.

 Text-To-Speech Converter applications are often required to be used to add Synthetic

Voices to YouTube videos for comedic effect. It is also used to convert entire book for
Personal Podcasting Purposes, RSS feeds and web pages for news stories, and
educational texts for enhanced learning.
 FUTURE SCOPE:

 Read text from Internet Explorer, Word, Outlook and

other text based programs.

 Text-To-Speech Converter can support all voices

installed on user’s computer, and additional voices that
can be downloaded from various web sites.
