Under/Over Frequency Protection
81S, 81R and 81O functions provide protection and or
alarming for under and overfrequency protection
 Two independent frequency modules for load shed and load
restoration (81S-1, 81S-2, 81R-1, 81R-2)
 56 to 64 Hertz (60Hz) at 0.01 Hz steps
 46 to 54 Hz (50Hz) at 0.01 Hz steps
 0.08 to 9.98 second at 0.02 sec. steps for 81S (under frequency
load shed)
 0 to 999 second at 1 sec. step for 81R (over frequency load
restoration)
 81V undervoltage setting that blocks 81S function when system
voltage is below 40-200 V setting.
 One 81O-1, 81O-2 overfrequency alarm function
 Implemented when the load restore function is not required
 Output is activated when the frequency is above selected 81R
setting and time delay has expired

Under/Overfrequency Protection
How 81S & 81R Function
81R load restoration function activates the
programmed contact output after a load
Frequency shed occurs, the frequency is above the
81R threshold, and the time delay has
expired. Output is active until breaker
closes or close failure time elapses.

81R Threshold (59 Hz)

81S Threshold (58 Hz)

81S load shed function activates

the programmed contact output
when frequency is below the
81S threshold and time delay
has expired.

Under and Overvoltage Protection
27/59 Under/Overvoltage
 Used for alarm and control purposes. Output contacts can be
programmed to signal an under or overvoltage condition
 Undervoltage range setting is 10 to 200 volts AC in steps of 1
 Overvoltage range is 70 to 250 volts AC in steps of 1
 1 to 60 second time delay at 1 sec. step for 27 and 59 function
 Selection between any single phase undervoltage (27-1P) or
all three phase undervoltage (27-3P) condition
 Overvoltage detection (59) is for any single phase overvoltage

Multishot Reclosing Function
 0 to 4 Reclosures may be selected (79-1, 79-2, 79-3, 79-4)
 Reclose sequence occurs if DPU-2000 initiates O/C trip or 79M
programmable input is initiated
 3 to 200 second reset time at 1 sec. step (begins timing after
each reclosure provided that phase and ground currents are
below pickup setting)
 0.1 to 200 second open interval, at 0.1 sec. step, per reclose
attempt
 1 to 200 second cutout time (79CO) at 1 sec. step
 10-200 Volt voltage block with 4-200 second time delay
 50P-1, 50P-2, 50P-3, 51N, 50N-1, 50N-2, 50N-3 functions can be
enabled or disabled at each step in reclosing sequence or set

Protective Functions (ZSC)
Zone Sequence Coordination (ZSC)
Coordinates inst. functions in the reclosing
sequence of the upstream and downstream
reclosing devices. Applications include fuse-
saving schemes for faults occurring beyond
downstream reclosers
When the ZSC function is enabled, DPU-2000
increments through reclose sequence after
sensing that fault current has been interrupted by
downstream device. 50/50N tripping is blocked
during this sequence
ZSC steps are logged in the fault summary and
fault record
