CE 599 – Control of a Construction Project
• This course investigates the principles and
practices for the control of budget and
schedule for construction projects. Topics
include: estimating construction costs and
developing a project budget, planning
construction operations and developing a
project schedule, documenting and
reporting of project progress and
spending, and the management of change
of contract amount, contract time, and
contract scope of work.

CE 699 – System Dynamics
• Course focuses on strategic construction
and engineering management and
simulation modeling. Simulation of realistic
engineering management challenges will
be used to explore the causes of common
problems such as inadequate resources
and delays in satisfying customers.

CE 699 – Building Information
Modeling (BIM)
• The course focuses on advanced
information systems used to control and
predict project performance. Discrete
Event Simulation (DES) Modeling and
Building Information Modeling (BIM) are
examined for construction operations,
developing work packages, 4D
simulations, and clash detection.

Work Packaging in BIM
• Work Package – def. a well-defined
scope of work that ends in a deliverable
product(s)
– Can vary in size, but it must be measurable
and controllable unit of work to be
performance
– To complete a work package, one or more
tasks will be performed.
