What is
parental
pressure? Effects.

My
Why? Views.
• Parental pressure is when parents puts too much strain on
their child to force them to exceed. The pressure is
normally to be the best in the chosen field, even one that
they used to succeed at but now they can’t.
• Usually parents tend to pressure their kids because
they try to live or they just want to feel what they
have done in their childhood through their kids. Also
the parents see the competitive side of everything
instead of the side that teaches life lessons and team
work.
• Other reason could be that they care, but they are not
aware of that they are care too much which is
dangerous.
• The effects of parental pressure on kids can cause drinking,
use of drugs, and many other bad things.
• As a result the performance of kid decrease cause of too
much interference of their parents.
Performance = Potential – Interference.
• FEW EXAMPLES :
• Agassi who was tennis grand slam champion turned
towards methamphetamines because it “ swept away every
negative thought in [his] head ”
• Mantle another tennis player committed suicide because of
intense pressure from his father.
• What I personally think is parental pressure is good but it all
depends on intensity of involvement (pressure). If parents are
putting so much pressure on children then it may lead to
depression or they could turn toward drugs but if the intensity
of involvement is low then it may work as motivational force
which drives the children to pursue their endeavours .
