OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

• define thematic analysis
• express one’s appreciation of the lesson by sharing the value of
carefully reading the selection to get the necessary data to
answer the question
• use thematic analysis in inferring patterns and themes in a
given interview transcript

 TYPES OF QUALITATIVE DATA ANALYSIS

1. Content analysis. This is carried out by coding

the data for certain words or content by going
through all the text an label words, phrases, and
sections of the text; or devising a matrix to group
fro categories of texts; identifying their patterns and
interpreting their meaning.
2. Thematic analysis. This method involves the
reformulation of stories presented by respondents taking
into account context of each case and different
experiences of each respondent. In other words,
narrative analysis is the revision of primary qualitative
data by researcher. 3

ANALYSIS?
This is a process of analyzing the data by grouping them
according to themes. Themes either evolve directly from
the research questions or preset, or naturally emerge
from the resulting data.

-Yes, naka experience ko naman through breakdown to the point that don’t wanna eat anymore and I cannot sleep
just because I’m thinking about my projects, thesis and everything…

-Uh, merong days na yung pagkagabi nun is nag mental breakdown kana na parang hindi na kaya ng mind mo hindi
