SOUTH COTABATO

• Its capital is Koronadal City


• it borders Sultan Kudarat to the north and
west, Sarangani to the south and northeast,
and Davao del Sur to the far northeast. To the
southeast lies Sarangani Bay.
• is the major producer of Pinapple, Corn,
Papaya, Abaca and Cassava in Region 12 Dole
Philippines Pinapple Plantation.
LANGUAGE
• There are over 20 different dialects spoken in
the province and most of the South
Cotabateños are multilingual, able to
communicate in Hiligaynon and/or Cebuano,
as well as in both Tagalog and English. Other
languages spoken are Ilocano and
Maguindanao. The indigenous tribes like the
T'boli's and B'laan, in addition, use their own
tribal dialects.

FESTIVALS
• T’nalak Festival (3rd Week of July) - is an
intricately woven tapestry of intense and
striking colors.
• Hinugyaw Festival (1st Week of January) (Araw
ng Koronadal) - dubbed as the "Festival of
Festivals," is a celebration of the different
cultures that has dwelled on the fertile valley
of Koronadal for many years now.
• Flom’lok Festival (Septeember 2-16) - is a
B’laan word which means “hunting
grounds”. Home to one of the world’s largest
pineapple plantations
• Seslong Festival ( March 5 – 16 ) - is a
celebration that portrays the gathering of
people to barter goods. Known as the center
for eco-cultural tourism, the people of the
highlands reflect the cultural heritage and
ancestry of the province.
TOURIST ATTRACTION
• Mt. Matutum -The name Matutum is derived
from the Blaa'n term "Amyak Maleh", that means
Climb and Plant.
- a steep, non active, volcano is located north of
the town of General Santos in the province of
South Cotabato
- The forested slopes of this majestic mountain are
covered with huge ferns, trees and plants that
abundantly grow in the wild and are host to
diverse animal and plant species, including the
national bird, the Philippine Eagle.
• Lake Sebu - Home of the T’boli Tribe dubbed
as the Summer Capital of Southern
Philippines. Lake Sebu is located at the
southwestern part of the Province of South
Cotabato.
