WHAT IS ABORTION?
O (MEDICINENET)Abortion is the premature exit of
the products of conception (the fetus, fetal
membranes, and placenta) from the uterus. It is
the loss of a pregnancy and does not refer to
why that pregnancy was lost.
O the World Health Organization (WHO) define
abortion as pregnancy termination prior to 20
weeks' gestation or a fetus born weighing less
than 500 g.
O Abortion is when a pregnancy is ended so that it
doesn't result in the birth of a child. Sometimes
it is called 'termination of pregnancy'.
