defined nor described. You may have
any other way of defining a human
being. But the better question is what
does it take to be human?

Intersubjectivity is manifested on how we


accept others and their differences.

How we accept other’s thought,


ideas, and opinion even though it is
exact opposite of our own
viewpoints.

People may be different in terms of


physical, intellectual and/or
emotional attributes.

Intersubjectivity refers to

existence and its relation

The I-THOU and I – IT relationship

Martin Buber
Martin Buber was an Austrian-born Israeli
Jewish philosopher best known for his
philosophy of dialogue, a form of existentialism
centred on the distinction between the I – thou
relationship and the I-IT relationship.

The I-thou Relationship

The I –thou relationship has recognition


and appreciation existing between two
individuals. It pronounces a direct , mutual
relationship in which each individual
substantiates the other person as being of
unique value.

The I-IT Relationship

The I-IT relationship on the other hand


values self-consciousness. It describes
a utilitarian relationship in which a
person uses other but does not value
them for themselves.
