ABOUT THE STARTUP
• IIT Delhi alumni Tanushree Nagori and
Aditya Shankar are the co founders of
startup they founded in 2017.
• The team now has more than 40 working
employees
• It offers instant video solutions for doubts
raised by students on an app-based
platform.
• The startup’s initial focus was on
mathematics because that appeared to be
most doubt-ridden subject for students of
all classes.
• But recently it has also included chemistry
physics, biology, account and economics.
• HOW IT WORKS

•Doubtnut is an interactive online tutoring

platform which uses image recognition
technologies, to provide solutions of some
competetive questions.

• Doubtnut provides the detailed video solutions

to all the questions.
.

• To find the solution to a mathematics, Physics and chemistry

question, one has to upload an image depicting the question in
mathematical signage

• Then it searches through its database in order to find a match.

• If it finds a match, then the result is provided to the user otherwise

it asks the user to post their question publicly for tutors available
on the platform to provide a video explaining his query.

• Its services are available through an Android application or its

official website.
REACHABILITY
• The app is completely FREE which
increases its usage and students from any
economic background can take advatage
from it.
• This service has become wildly popular
with the low-income groups outside of tier I
cities due to its accessibility, ease of use,
and these are the very people who need
access to low cost or free solutions .
• This fraction of population counts for 80%
of the app’s user base.
• The video library already counts for over 4
lakh videos with 4,000 videos being added
every day.
• Doubtnut MAUs surged to 7 Mn in past 6
months, DAUs grew by 8X
MY WORK
• I was hired as a physics tutor.
• Worked from 10 may to 10 july.
• Target was solving 25-30 questions each
day.
• Made 1200 videos worth 4000 minutes on
physics problems of competetive exams.
TYPES OF VIDEO LECTURES
OFFLINE VIDEO LECTURES :
• Single camera video lecture.
• Two camera video lecture.
• Single video with PC screen capture
Offline video lectures
• Recording of video lectures using digital
cameras which are readily available in
market. A video lecture implies video of
presenter, slide show and audio are
provided to students. There are three
modes in which video lectures can be
recorded.
Single camera video lecture
• In this case, a single camera is used to
capture the black board or demonstration
given by the instructors. Once in while, the
instructor’s gesture are captured if
conditions allow. This video does not
require the preparation of PowerPoint
slides. The instructor can give the whole
lecture on blackboard.
Two camera video lecture
• In second technique, two cameras are
needed. One of them is used to capture
gestures of instructors and the other one
to capture the blackboard/ whiteboard or
slide projected on a screen . The two
captured videos are compressed using
Real producers and archived in
designated areas of real server. A SMIL
script file is used for synchronizing the two
videos.
Single video with PC screen capture

• In the PC we run screen and voice

recording software. We used screen cast o
matic. Whatever is written on the screen is
recorded with the voice and the video file
is then uploaded to the database.
