 Rapping is a musical form of vocal
delivery that incorporates “rhyme,
rhythmic speech, and street

Rapping can be traced back to its African
roots. Centuries before hip-hop music
existed, the Griots of West Africa were
delivering stories rhythmically, over drums
and sparse instrumentation.

include content(what
being said),flow(rhythm),
and tone.

provided by a DJ,
turntablist, beatboxer, or
performed a cappella
without accompaniment.
 To successfully deliver a rap,
a rapper must also develop
vocal presence, enunciation,

The origin
- Folk music originated from many places , many ethnic groups in
Vietnamese . It is handed down with belonging to anyone .
characteristics
- Because folk music was composed in many places so it have many different and
extremely rich characteristics . In general , it are songs that are gentle form heart of
the people , rustic and simple . It is divided into several categories such as cheo ,
quan ho, cai luong , ca tru , ...
- Some typical songs are : three mandarins , rice drum , lullaby , …

 INDIE MUSIC
Indie derived from the English original ‘Independent music’ is
independently produced music outside the mainstream record
companies or their subsidiaries. This is a musical style approach
with a view ‘Do it yourself’ in recording and producing music.
The word ‘ indie’ is often attached to a certain genre ( such as
indie rock , indie pop, indie folk ). In a broader sense, the tern
‘indie’ is not only describe the production of independent music,
but also refers to the product or style or music can not be
classified in the existing genres.
Indie rock is a genre of alternative rock originated in Britain
and America from the 1980s. This is very diverse category,
with subcategories including indie pop, jangle pop,lo-fi, and
some other again. Indie rock was originally used to describe
the record label, the tern gradually associated with music
labels and intial production may be used interchangeably with
alternative rock,. Since the band gunk and punk in the US and
Britpop in the UK, becoming popular in the 1990s, indie rock
refers to the band, ‘foregin’ and is rounder world music
underground , and it is also developing a number subcategory
and related styles. In the 200s , the result of changes in music
industry circles and the growing importance of the Internet ,
some indie rock artists began to receive commercial success.

Indie pop is an alternative rock genre formed in the UK in the
mid-1980s, originating from Scottish post-punk bands in the
Postcard Records record label in the early 1980s (Josef K and
Orange Juice). and the famous British independent band in the
mid-1980s, the Smiths. Indie pop is inspired by the DIY
principle of punk music and is related to the punk ideology,
creating a network of magazine websites, independent record
labels, nightclubs and theaters. Indie pop has a range of
melodies, less harshness and anxiety than indie rock.
Indie folk is a genre of music that emerged in the 1990s
from indie rock artists influenced by classical folk and
country music. Indie folk is a combination of catchy
melody of indie rock along with the acoustic sounds of
contemporary folk music. Some of the artists who started
this genre include Ani DiFranco and Dan Bern. Notable
artists later were The Decemberists, Fleet Foxes, The
Cave Singers, Loch Lomond, Bon Iver, Or, The Whale,
Great Lake Swimmers, and Blind Pilot.
BALLAD
Origin of ballad music: There are many views that
the ballad was made by some troubadourists, but
the majority was done by the people of Europe,
scholars think that the ballads emerged in Western
Europe, from the 13th century. Ballads often tell
stories about love.
Originally, the ballad originated from country and
folk music because of its slow, relaxed melody
(often played solo by piano, guitar or violin).
The melody of ballad music is usually gentle
and slow.Ballad inspires and makes listener
feel relax while listening.
Today the ballad has been mixed by many other
genres (rock ballad, opera ballad, folk ballad) but
pop ballad still gets the most attention.

Pop music is a genre of popular music that
originated in its modern form in the United
States and United Kingdom during the mid-
1950s."Pop" and "rock" were roughly
synonymous terms until the late 1960s, when
they became increasingly differentiated from
each other.
Although much of the music that appears on
record charts is seen as pop music, the genre is
distinguished from chart music. Pop music
often borrows elements from other styles such
as urban, dance, rock, Latin, and country;
nonetheless, there are many core elements
that define pop music. Identifying factors
include generally short to medium-length songs
written in a basic format (often the verse-
chorus structure), as well as common use of
repeated choruses, melodic tunes, and hooks.

length, generally marked by a
consistent and noticeable rhythmic
element, a mainstream style and a
simple traditional structure.

The beat and the melodies tend to be

simple, with limited harmonic
accompaniment. The lyrics of modern

themes – often love and romantic
relationships – although there are
notable exceptions
