FRIDAY SERMON

15 Safar 1436H / 27 November 2015

Al-Barzakh
• My respected brothers,

• I would like to remind myself and all of you.

Let us fear Allah with a true taqwa, hopefully
with taqwa we will be among the pious and
the honourable people.
• Allah says in Surah al-Nisaa verse
59:
• Which means:
• “O you who have believed, obey Allah and
obey the Messenger and those in authority
among you. And if you disagree over
anything, refer it to Allah and the
Messenger, if you should believe in Allah
and the Last Day. That is the best [way]
and best in result.”
• Dear Congress of the Friday Prayers,

• Every soul will taste death, same goes to

human beings as they can’t run away from
death that has been written by Allah swt.
• When the time has come of a person, the
Angel Izrail will take away the life of a person
regardless of where they are.
• The Hereafter is the last resort for humans
but unfortunately, people forget about it and
people too forget their preparation to go
there.
• Allah swt said in verse 8 surah al-Jumuah like
what was read at the beginning of the
sermon means:
Say, "Indeed, the death from which you flee –
indeed, it will meet you.
Then you will be returned to the Knower of
the unseen and the witnessed,
and He will inform you about what you used to
do."
• Al-barzakh is the period between a person's
death and his resurrection on the Day of
Resurrection.
• Al-barzakh is the separation between the
word and the Hereafter, where the Angel
Munkar and Nakir will question you about
your life when you are alive.
• Allah says in Surah Al-An’am verse 62:
• Which means:
• Then they His servants are returned to Allah ,
their true Lord. Unquestionably, His is the
judgement, and He is the swiftest of
accountants.
• Al-barzakh begins when a person left the world
being dug into the grave.
• Al-Barzakh is the veiled between the two
world that all human will go to and that is the
world here and the Hereafter.
• Every death will go through al-Barzakh before
they enter the Hereafter.
• The Hereafter is the Day of Resurrection
where it happens after the Judgement day to
determine whether we belong to Paradise or
Hellfire.
• So, Al-Barzakh is the transition for dead
people who awaits the Judgement Day later.
• Dear brothers,

• According to a hadith by Rasulullah, the dead

will hear the sound of people leaving the grave
and after a few steps of leaving the dead after
they buried him, Allah will blow the soul back in
the body and that is when the body will stiffen
and be awaken.
• Another sayings from Ibn Hajar said:

• “The soul that Allah swt gave back to the dead

is only to a certain parts of the body, which is
from the backside and above.”
• Dear Brothers,

• When the soul is being blown into the body,

he will live again.
• That was when the two angels name Munkar
and Nakir comes for the interrogation.
• They will interrogate everyone regardless of
Muslims of the Kufar, Mukmin who belongs in
Jannah or those who belongs in the Hellfire.
• Nobody has seen or know the faces of angel
Mungkar and Nakir, even Rasulullah s.a.w.
• Even so, they are being said to have the soul
of purity by the Ulama’ because they are
under the rules of Allah swt.
• Dear Brothers,

• Today, many of us forgets the truth and failed

to prepare ourselves for death and realized
that we are future residences of the grave.
• Many of us are too delusional with the
worldly life.
• Even when we remember death, it
is only to a certain extend.
• This submerge because of the heart that dive
too much for the worldly pleasure without
realizing the pleasure of the Hereafter that
leads to a hard and dark heart.
• To the Mukmin that obeys the command of
Allah by doing what He ask, regardless of
whether it is an obligatory or mandatory and
leave all things that He forbids, whether it is
Haram or Makruh.
• To them, al-Barzakh will be their place to
sleep or rest.
• There, they will enjoy some parts of the
Jannah that Allah gave to them. Rasulullah saw
said:

“Visit the graves because it will remind you of

death” (Narrated by Ibnu Majah)
• Rasulullah saw said:

• “Visit the graves because it will remind you

of death” (Narrated by Ibnu Majah)
• To end this sermon for today, let us ponder
upon ourselves, what is our life there in the
grave? Will we be able to answer all questions
asked by the angel Munkar and Nakir
regarding our deeds now?
• Let us reflect upon ourselves, are we ready to
leave this world? Is our deeds enough? Allah
said in Surah Az-Zalzalah verse 7 and 8:
• Which means:

“So whoever does an atom's weight of good

will see it,”

“And whoever does an atom's weight of evil

will see it.”
O servant of Allah, remember that this
world is a place for temporary lodging.
Truly, hereafter is the everlasting and
permanent abode. So let us devote to
Allah to gain happiness and saving us
from the punishment of hellfire.
• Allah says in Surah Al Ahzab verse 56:
• Which means:
“Indeed Allah confers blessing upon the
prophet and His angels (ask Him to do so). O!
You who have believed, ask Allah to confer
blessing upon him and ask Allah to grant him
peace.”
• Let us pray that may Allah SWT be
please with the khalifahs of
Rasulullah s.a.w i.e Sayyidina Abu
Bakr al-Siddiq r.a., Sayyidina Umar
al-Khattab r.a., Sayyinda Uthman ibn
Affan r.a., Sayyidina Ali ibn Abi
Thalib r.a.
• And to his companions who struggle to uphold
the religion of Allah, also to his uncles Sayyidina
Hamzah and Sayyidina Abbas r.a. and to his
granchildren Sayyidina Hassan and Sayyidina
Hussain r.a., his daughters Sayyidatina Fatimah al-
Zahraa’, his wives Sayyidatina Khadijah and
Sayyidatina Aisyah r.a. and the other wives.
Followed by his family, companions, followers of
the companions and those who come after them
from time to time until the end of the world.
• O Allah, forgive all Muslims and believers,
whether surviving or deceased. O Allah, grant
us glory and prosperity to those who fight and
spend their wealth in your way such as those
who pay zakat, waqaf etc.
• Ya Allah, bestow your guidance and
help to the leaders and kings of the
Muslim countries especially to
Abdaka Al-Harith Lishariatika Al-
Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Al-
Sultan Iskandar, the Sultan and ruler
for the State of Johor Darul Takzim.
• And to Raja Zarith Sofea Binti Al-Marhum
Sultan Idris Shah, Tengku Ismail Ibn Sultan
Ibrahim, Pemangku Raja Johor and, the Prince
and Princess, the royal kinship, and all
Muslims.
