ENTRY ONE

camping in huntsville state park

Arrival
We got to our campsite,
in the beautiful Huntsville
State Park, and started
setting up! First was our
tent.
Tent pegs
We realized that
we forgot to bring
a hammer (the first
thing we didn’t do
right) or a mallet to
hammer in the tent
pegs. So, brilliant
people that we
are, we used an
axe. Totally safe.
Absolutely.
A short walk
• It was very nice
• Very beautiful
• Lots of trees
• Hot
• Some lake views
• Watched some strangers fish for about four minutes
I chop with an axe
and build a fire
• It took a long time
• Many matches
• And much crumpled paper

• But we made ourselves hotdogs and

marshmallows and hot chocolate once
the wind kicked in and helped us start
the fire.
hammocks
• The view from our hammocks was
one of the best at the campsite.

• We spent most of the afternoon and

evening relaxing in our hammocks,
reading books, and listening to quiet
music and birdsong.

• I wanted to sleep in my hammock,

but I also didn’t want to be eaten
alive by mosquitos.
It rained
I don’t have pictures of the morning after, but we all
woke up about 6:30, to a light drizzle. We decided to take
the tent down, and it started pouring. We rolled up the
tent, folded up the tart, and stuffed it all into the trunk of
the car. We were soaked. And thus, we enjoyed the two
hour drive back home.
