HISTORY AS AN INDUSTRY
 Its original name was Dominican Hill
Retreat House

The hotel is widely believed as haunted

because of its dark past

It was developed as a school named

Colegio Del Santissimo Rosario but was
immediately turned down after 2 years
In World War II, Japanese
soldiers made the property as
their headquarters

The Kenpeitai or the secret

police force tortured, raped, and
beheaded nuns, priests, as well as
the refugees
The massacre of numerous
children was done at the fountain

In 1945, the Americans bombed

the property while the Japanese
forces committed suicide
From 1945-1947,
the place underwent
into restoration

It was 1973 when Diplomat

Hotel Inc., acquired the property,
turning it into a 33-bedroom
hotel.
The hotel was managed by Tony
Agpaoa, a faith healer famous for
psychic surgery

Since the death of Tony Agpaoa in

1987, the hotel ceased its operation
and declared as off-limits to the
guests and was later on abandoned
In may 2012, the city of Baguio
made two function halls that can
be rented for special occasions

Today, the place is a favorite

spot for paranormal activities
and photo shoots
 History as a Philosophy
The Diplomat Hotel witnessed the
unfortunate death of hundreds of people
but it doesn’t change the fact that the
hotel remained its panoramic spot. The
trip in Baguio is not complete without
visiting the hotel to sight its unique
Dominican features.

Located at Dominican Hill, Diplomat Road, Baguio, 2600 Benguet

The construction started 1913 and stopped May 1915

The Architech Roque Ruaño

A 17-hectare hill property was acquired from Americans who

reside in Baguio and construction is said to have started in 1913
and was supervised by Ruano himself.

The hill is currently named as Dominican Heritage Hill and Nature

Park.

The halls could be rented for P200 an hour or P2,000 a day for
weddings, trainings and workshops among others.
