Fringing reef - is directly attached to the shore

Barrier reef- is not attached to the shore. Between the reef and the shore is lagoon.
Patch reef- is circular in shape and is surrounded by a lagoon.
Atoll reef- grows in circles or is shaped like a horseshoe.

brought about by the ocean waves.

SAVING THE CORAL REEFS
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) –
regulates protection and collection of corals.

Things the government do to protect our coral reefs:


1.Ban destructive fishing methods.
2.Implement rules regarding the discharge of pollutants
unto the water bodies and impose penalties on violators.
3.Discourage consumers from buying products made from
corals.
Things we can do to help save our coral reefs:

1.Tell your friends about the use of coral reefs in


sustaining marine life.
2.Discourage buying products that are made from corals.
3.Participate in conservation campaigns posters and
brochures about saving the coral reefs.
4.Keep yourself informed about the negative effects of
climate change and do what you can to minimize them.
