-For the Philippines, Spain introduced the whole
set of Forks, Knives, and Spoons.
- The use of spoon instead of knife is for
practical utility of eating the indigenous food
which are often eaten with rice .
-The spoon can better scoop rice than any
utensils.

-Most Filipinos today eat using a spoon and fork, the
traditional way of eating is kamayan, or “with
hands.”
-Kamayan was the customary way of eating in the
Philippines prior to Spanish colonization in the 16th
century, and although utensils are more accessible
and common now
-Pinoys often eat this old school way for big
celebrations, while on holiday, or just to pay
homage to their cultural history.
Balikbayan Box
Balikbayan Box
-A balikbayan box is a corrugated box containing
items sent by overseas Filipinos (known as
"balikbayans"). Though often shipped by
freight forwarders specializing in balikbayan
boxes by sea, such boxes can be brought by
Filipinos returning to the Philippines by air.
